Como Fue. A story of Tina Modotti: the film
...Tina Modotti lived through some of the most turbulent events of the 20th century and her life reflected the passions of the time. She was a beautiful spirited woman whose intimates included Frieda Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and D.H. Lawrence. The influential photographer Edward Weston was her lover. She was a photographer and poet who dreamt of a better world and this led to her involvement in the Spanish Civil War and the intrigues of Moscow in the 1930s.
...Hilder first began working on ideas for the film in 1989. Now completed, Como Fue incorporates cinematic and photographic techniques. These are some of the photographs that formed an integral part of the telling of the story, listed here in the same sequence as they appear in the film.
