Annotated: McMurdo Sound area. A Weddell seal and her pup. After weighing about 25 kilos when born, the pup, in the 6 to 7 weeks before weaning, weighs in at about 100 kilograms. The mother loses about 150 kilos to 300 kilos. Ref: Ant G3/5, #745.
