This drawing, which is related to his painting of the same name, is based on the centre panel depicting Bosch-like characters. Friend was inspired to create the painting and drawing after the author of the banned book "Love Me, Sailor" was "fined and gaoled" (Barry Pearce's "Donald Friend: 1915-1989 retrospective", p 60).
