Sleeth (b.1972)
130 Short Stories, 1994-1996. Collection of 49 vintage silver
gelatin photographs, titled, dated and signed verso (some with
inscriptions by the sitter), 50.5 x 40.7cm (paper size), 4-6cm
(margins). In good condition except for exhibition pinholes to
corners.
Short Stories was Sleeth's first major exhibition at the Contemporary
Centre of Photography, Melbourne, which toured for a year to
two regional galleries in Victoria and one commercial gallery
in Sydney from 1996-1997. Twenty-six of the 48 photo-graphs,
representing each series listed above, are reproduced in Roaring
Days: Photographs by Matthew Sleeth, edited by Helen Frajman,
M.33, Vic, 1998. The touring exhibition catalogue, newspaper
reviews, and a copy of the book, Roaring Days, accompany this
collection.
Short Stories
consists of four series:
