Minor loss to image upper and lower right, laid down on original
backing with fragile lower right corner.
Annotation
reads "Melbourne, March 1858." Fauchery's photographic
presentation bears a striking similarity to work of famous French
photographer Nadar. Fauchery's friendship with Nadar's son may
account for this influence.

and Oxford Streets and Wentworth Avenue, which is known today
as Whitlam Square. Initials "G.W.W." stand for George
Washington Wilson, a famous Scottish photography studio, who
Hardie worked for.
