Hoffman was an esteemed portrait painter, lithographer and etcher
who received the John Taylor Arms prize from the Society of American
Etchers and the Pennell Purchase Prize (Library of Congress).

Austrian-born
artist and writer, Frederick Halpern studied painting and printmaking
techniques in both Vienna and Paris. Throughout his career he
travelled extensively. He settled in Australia in the early 1950s.
