Dancer Erwina Kupferova As Cleopatra, c1919. Vintage sepia pigment print, early photographer's blind stamp "Drtikol Prague" on image lower right, 25.4 x 19.1cm. Laid down on original backing with slight water stain and chips to edges.
Variant image in Birgus, The Photographer Frantisek Drtikol, p37. Kupferova became Drtikol's lover and then his wife after he began photographing her dance group.

Drtikol was a Czech artist of remarkable invention, who taught nude and still life photography in his studio during the late 1920s. During the point in his career when this image was taken, he developed a technique for photographing paper cutouts, which he called "photopurism."
