Original Japanese kimono design, showing (front kimono) images of cranes using a butterfly motif amongst pine needles, (middle kimono) tortoise shell pattern, and (back kimono) plum flower pattern. Kimonos depicting cranes and tortoises were worn by old people to celebrate longevity. Plum flowers, pine trees and bamboo were used to symbolise good luck. These three kimonos were probably worn by older people to ensure long life. |
