Broken Hill

Postcards by Brokenshire Bros. Broken Hill Miners Strike, 1909. Album of 44 photographic postcards, print-out paper prints, impressed stamp, each 9 x 13.9cm. Together with 1 letterpress postcard.
Rare as a group. The 1909 miners strike lasted for two years. Justice Higgins gave a judgement in favour of the miners. The photographer, 'Brokenshire Bros', is more than likely a nom-de-plume for a sympathetic photographer: the sale of the postcards no doubt assisted the miners.
