Captain Samuel Sweet
(Botanical Gardens, Adelaide), c.1880s. Albumen paper print, copy print, signed Sweet Adelaide 264 in the plate lower centre, 16 x 21cm.
Numbered 264 in the plate. This is a copy print of one of Sweet's photographs. He has rephotographed his own photograph, due to the problem of handling a cracked glass plate (which is evident in the right hand corner). Because he has actually photographed his own signed photograph his signature appears in black. Had he signed the negative plate the signature would of course be white.

The Hart Co. is recorded as working from premises at 86 Hay Street, Perth, in 1897, and 478A Hay Street, Perth, 1898-1900.
