Pictured in the background is Italian shipping company Lloyd
Trestino's MS Romolo, which was sunk in Australian waters by
HMAS Manoora on 12 June 1940, after Italy declared loyalty to
Germany. Also, her sister ship, Remo, was impounded in Australia.
Ironically, Lloyd Triestino transported over 200,000 migrants
to Australia after WWII.

About 200km from Melbourne, Wilson's Promontory marks the southern-most
point of mainland Australia, and overlooks a narrow shipping
channel through Bass Strait between Tasmania and Victoria. The
promontory was first sighted by Bass and Flinders in 1798, and
was named by Governor Hunter in honour of Thomas Wilson, a merchant
engaged in the Australian trade.
