Norman Lindsay - Facsimile Etchings
In 1974, after a successful etching exhibition at Bloomfield Gallery, Sydney, Lin Bloomfield decided, after consultation with Jane Lindsay, to publish three folios of limited edition facsimile reproductions of etchings at an affordable price.

Kevin Langridge of Langridge Press, who had printed the two-volume Norman Lindsay: Two Hundred Etchings for A&R and was already fully conversant with the originals, agreed to undertake what proved to be a difficult task. In order to match the tone quality of the originals, the facsimiles had to be printed in several colours, requiring several metal plates (made by Ralfs and Hermsdorf). The results were of the highest quality.

During the 1980s and early 1990s the process was repeated with each new facsimile issued. Today, however, technological advances have dramatically changed the printing method. The printer still needs to be aware of the many subtle colour and tone changes in these apparently monochrome works, but the images are now digitally scanned using the latest equipment and constant care from the printer. The process is different, but just as painstaking.

After working with the original etchings, Kevin Langridge commented to Lin Bloomfield, "These etchings are so intricate you don't realise until you dissect them like this just how superb a craftsman Norman was. I don't know how he did it without ruining his eyes."

Produced by Odana Editions under Licence from the Lindsay family. Each is numbered in a limited edition of 550, with an embossed seal in lower right corner of the image, and Certificate of Authenticity from Odana Editions. All printing materials used have been destroyed, and the metal plates used in the printing process have first been cancelled and then destroyed. Each shrink-wrapped and unframed. All works are for sale unframed unless otherwise noted. Some have been framed for exhibition purposes only.
