Jon Lewis (1950- ). American born, Australian resident Jon Lewis commenced his Bondi Beach photographic series in 1984. This collection was exhibited at Fnac Galerie Photo in Paris and on tour 1989-1993. He photographed 200 Australian faces, both famous and little known, for "Portrait of a Nation" exhibition at the Mitchell Library, Sydney, in 1992. In 2000, he travelled to East Timor on a project to document the effect of the conflict on the people. Jon Lewis conceives and brings his photographic projects to artistic culmination with a sense of time and place, always allowing the individual to shine through.
