Born in Barcelona, Francesc d’Assís Galí was a Catalan painter and founder of a private art school. “Galí’s painting leaned towards Modernism, after he went through a phase of Symbolism and Realism. In 1906, he founded his Academia de Francesc Galí as a counterweight to traditional academic teaching. His teachings were progressive, with no determined artistic direction, each pupil chose his own individual style; [students] included Joan Miró...His work was exhibited at the 20th World Exhibition in Barcelona in 1929. In 1939 he went in exile to England.” Ref: Wiki.
