1907. Watercolour, titled, signed and dated lower left, 26.9 x 74.6cm. Slight foxing and stains overall, cockling to centre of image. Framed.

Annotation verso reads “Jack Woolston.” Frederick Carl Gerke (1851-1928) and his wife emigrated from Germany, arriving in South Australia in 1877. Twenty-two years later he purchased a property at Bundaleer Springs, South Australia. The artist, J.J. Christie, seems to have worked primarily in that area.
