Moving Picture Wagon
c1925. Vintage silver gelatin photograph, 7.2 x 9.6cm. Slight foxing and minor crinkles overall. Sign on horse-drawn wagon reads “Moving Pictures.” From the 1920s, motion pictures were made accessible to country towns in Australia via travelling picture showmen who worked a circuit. They found venues in the towns, such as church halls. The projector was hand-cranked, which allowed the projectionist to speed up or slow down, to match the action on screen.
