George Knight Erskine Fairholme (Aust., 1822-1889).

Australia [Cattle Droving, Queensland]

c1853. Three hand-coloured lithographs, each initialled “G.K.E.F.” in image and titled in ink below image, one annotated “No. 5” in ink above image, 17.3 x 25.4cm (approx. each). Slight stains and minor paper loss with some repairs to margins, old mount burn.

All titles include “Australia”, and read “Branding cattle in a ‘pen’; Drafting cattle on horseback; Taking away a draft of young cattle.” The images are significant for colonial Queensland as they are some of the very earliest depictions of the emerging colony and of life on Darling Downs at the time.
