The Grafton Steam Punt
c1872. Albumen paper photograph, carte-de-visite format, titled in blue ink with a partly obscured printed photographer’s line on backing verso, 2.7 x 9.9cm. Foxing overall, laid down on original backing. The Grafton Steam Punt was launched in 1868. Photographer Stevenson arrived in Grafton circa 1871-1872, eventually taking over J.W. Lindt’s studio in 1876. Ref: Davies, Mechanical Eye, 1985.
