Freezing Works, NSW

c1890. Group of 11 vintage silver gelatin photographs, each titled in ink verso, 14.8 x 20.4cm (approx. each). Slight creases with crazing or minor tears to edges of some images, discolouration to some.

Titles list freezing works for the following towns: Barraba, Manilla, Cooma, Oberon, Dunedoo, Binnaway, Bungendore, Camden, Rylstone, Jindabyne and Millthorpe.

Several images show rabbit carcases on carts, intended for freezing prior to processing fur into felt for the hat industry, and meat for export mainly to the UK. Ref: NLA, Manilla Museum.
