c1911. Watercolour with gouache, original postcard design, accompanied with colour process screen print postcard of the same image, titled and signed in image lower left and right, artist’s name stamped in lower margin, title and signature replicated in postcard image with the annotation “Oilette”, text in letterpress verso, 15.3 x 23.8cm. Watercolour has some colour loss to the blue, minor stains, soiling, and repaired tears to margins, wear to edges of postcard.

Text includes “The ‘Wide Wide World’ Series. Australia Post and Telegraph. Raphael Tuck and Son. ‘Oilette’ (Reg’d) Postcard 7356. Art publishers to Their Majesties the King and Queen.” The postcard also provides a definition of a telegraph messenger “Telegrams in Australia are delivered by youths clad in a smart uniform and mounted on horseback, the result being a most effective and expeditious service.”
