1957. Vintage silver gelatin photograph, titled in pencil with attached Associated Press (AP) label with partly obscured credit line and caption verso, 21.9 x 16.5cm. Crinkles, minor creases and tears to edges of photograph; surface loss and missing portions to label.

Shows Martin Luther King at the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama in 1957. Rev. King accepted his first pastoral position at this church, which was also the venue used by King to co-ordinate the Montgomery bus boycott from 1955 to 1956.
