“Escape To Australia” [“Saturday Evening Post”]

An illustrator for numerous major American magazines, John Falter’s first cover for The Saturday Evening Post (Sept., 1943) was a portrait of Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790), who is considered to be the founder of the magazine: in 1728, Franklin established the Pennsylvania Gazette newspaper, it was later renamed The Saturday Evening Post in 1821.
