1952. Crayon with wash, titled, annotated “pour Tomas”, signed and dated across image, 36.6 x 45cm. Missing portion to upper edge, slight soiling. Drawn on an old document wallet folder. Jean Cocteau was a French writer, designer, playwright, artist and filmmaker. Cocteau is best known for his novel Les Enfants Terribles (1929), and the films Blood of a Poet (1930), Beauty and the Beast (1946) and Orpheus (1949). His circle of associates and friends included Kenneth Anger, Pablo Picasso, Jean Hugo, Jean Marais, Coco Chanel and Edith Piaf. Ref: Wiki.
