Morning

c1934-1941. Vintage silver gelatin photograph, handwritten studio line and titled in ink on backing verso, 33.5 x 27.6cm. Slight stains and creases to image upper left, lower centre and corners, minor surface loss to edges, laid down on original backing.

Studio line reads “Miss Olive Cotton, c/o Max Dupain, 24 Bond St., Sydney.” This was the address of Max Dupain’s first studio, where Cotton worked from 1934 to 1941. Ref: White, Dupain’s Australians, 2003, p112.
