c1919. Eight vintage silver gelatin photographs, each 11.6 x 15.2cm (approx. each). Slight silvering, creases and scuffing overall.

Images show Macquarie Street and Queen’s Square in Sydney, heavily decorated, as well as the “Avenue of Allies” triumphal arch on the corner of Bridge and Macquarie Streets. The arch was surmounted by shields and flags for the Allies, as well as wreaths bearing the word “Victory.” Saturday, 19 July, 1919 was declared ‘Peace Day’ throughout the British Empire.
