1788/1789. Engraving, text with title, date, artist and publisher’s line in plate above and below image, 46 x 46.5cm. Replaced missing portions and stains to image centre and lower left, uneven margins, trimmed platemarks, old folds. Laid down on acid-free tissue. Text includes “Line by W. Dawes; the soundings by Capt. Hunter. Published July 7, 1789 by J. Stockdale. T. Medland, sculp” and a key for buildings and plots of land such as the Lieutenant Governor’s House. This is one of the earliest maps of Sydney Cove, showing seven of the First Fleet ships at anchor.
