Pacific Mother Of Pearl Shells
c1886-1930s. Six items containing seven carved mother of pearl or conch shells, two images captioned or dated “1886” in image, one shell annotated “C. Nouvaille[?]” in pencil in unknown hand inside shell, sizes range from 17.6 x 17cm to 18.7 x 13 x 21cm. One shell with minor chips to lower right edge. Two items with custom-made stands. Scenes include indigenous people from the Pacific region, including one item with finely detailed carvings showing people amongst thatched huts, palm trees, and a border of faces.
