In 1978 a bomb exploded outside the Hilton Hotel in Sydney during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Regional Meeting. In 1990 Tim Anderson was convicted for ordering the Sydney Hilton Hotel bombing and sentenced to 14 years imprisonment, but was acquitted on appeal in 1991. Due to a number of inconsistencies in the investigation, there have been accusations of conspiracy surrounding the case and allegations that ASIO was responsible.
