Comment from the Australian National Maritime Museum “Charles Eddowes Turner was a British painter specialising in landscape and marine views. He was proficient in both watercolours and oils, exhibiting at the Royal Academy in London as well as in Manchester and Liverpool...In World War I he served in the Royal Air Force and in World War II he worked as an official war artist...Turner provided illustrations for the Illustrated London News and Sphere magazine. He was commissioned to paint images of the Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth for Cunard which were sold as postcards, and [he] also produced publicity material for other shipping lines.”
