Dylan
1966. Colour lithograph, artist name in image upper right, 83.5 x 56.2cm. Old folds, slight discolouration, scuffing. Linen-backed. This poster was packaged with Bob Dylan’s 1966 Greatest Hits LP; the tell-tale folds indicate it is an original issue poster. Milton Glaser, who is most famous for his “I ‘love’ NY” logo, “took his inspiration for the Dylan profile from a 1957 self-portrait by Marcel Duchamp. Though Glaser used a similar composition, the transformation of Dylan’s curly mane into a tangled rainbow was his own invention.” Ref: Smithsonian Magazine, June 2010.
