Stamp includes “Printed 1980 in an edition of 50, this is print 1/50. Archive #1-13. No further prints will be made from this negative, with the exception of a limited number made solely in connection with museum exhibitions. Copyright 1980 by Lisette Model.” Illustrated in Lisette Model, Aperture, New York, 1979, p24.

Held in International Center for Photography, NY, with the comment: “Model’s best-known work consists of series of photographs she made with a 35-millimeter camera, of people on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice and on the streets of New York’s Lower East Side. Her work is notable for its emphasis on the peculiarities of average people in everyday situations, and for its direct, honest portrayal of modern life and its effect on human character.”
