1933. Vintage silver gelatin photograph, signed in pencil on backing below image, titled in ink with photographer’s stamp, Czech Customs stamps, and printed Swiss and Hungarian exhibition labels, which include dates “1933” and “1935” on backing verso, 29.3 x 23.3cm. Minor silvering, laid down on original backing.

Photographer’s stamp reads “Samuel Birn, Dominikánská nám. 6/7, Brno Brunn. ?SR.” One label reads “II. Internationale kunstphotographische Ausstellung. Luzerne, Schweiz, 22. Juli bis 20. Aug. 1933” and includes a “bronzene medaille” label from the same exhibition.

Samuel Birn was the co-founder of the Czech Amateur Photographers Club established in 1921. Ref: Pavlina Vogelova, Masaryk University.
