Music and new lyrics by Stephen Schwartz. Conceived and originally directed by John-Michael Tebelak. Current production by Hilton Bonner. Live at the Mayfair, 73-75 Castlereagh St [Sydney].” The producer of Godspell, Edgar Lansbury, “offered [David] Byrd $100 to create the musical’s poster, which was a fraction of Byrd’s usual fees. Byrd figured he’d take a chance, and bargained with Lansbury — if the musical turned out to be successful, Lansbury would pay him $50 a week for the run of the show.
