The Stirling Water Tube Boiler Co. Camp At Ryde, NSW
c1906. Vintage silver gelatin photograph, postcard format, caption in image, 8.7 x 13.8cm. Silvering. Stirling Water Tube Boilers were first introduced at Ryde Water Pumping Station in 1906. Built in 1891, the pumping station had significant “impact on Sydney life...[During] the early 1900s, Sydney was not only in continual drought, but water was particularly scarce north of the harbour.” Heritage status was granted to the pumping station in 2017.
