c1959. Colour process lithograph, signed in image lower left, 102.2 x 63.2cm. Repaired missing portions and perforations, slight stains to image centre. Linen-backed. Partially obscured text continues “Litho. in USA, 1081.” “During the 1950s and 1960s, David Klein designed and illustrated dozens of posters for Howard Hughes’ Trans World Airlines (TWA).” He was known in the late 1940s and early 1950s for his Broadway posters. “Klein’s award-winning abstract drawings for TWA came to represent the jet age…Typical of TWA posters, text is kept to a minimum and an airplane flies overhead.” Ref: David Klein estate, Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum.
