“The Red Man’s Revenge” and “Jim Kilgour, Ace Detective”

1941–1942. Two pen and ink comic strips, one with watercolour, both signed “Alf Midgley” in ink in panels, one dated “’41”, one annotated “begin Oct. 1942” in pencil verso, 15.1 x 30.5cm and 19.1 x 36cm. Foxing, comic with watercolour has missing portions and tears to margin.

Captions include (1) “The Red Man’s Revenge” by Alf Midgley. R.M. Ballantyne’s tale of the Red River flood; and (2) “Jim Kilgour, Ace Detective.” The prisoner in Tibet, episode 1. Introducing Jim Kilgour, private English detective with headquarters in Hong Kong.
