John Cranko and Mario Amaya
1957–1960. Two drawings, one charcoal and one pencil, one titled, both signed and dated lower left to right, both with exhibition details on “Helene C. Seiferheld” label and other exhibition labels verso, 20 x 30.5cm and 31 x 22cm. Slight foxing. Titles of portraits read “John Cranko, London, 1960” and “Mario Amaya, 1957.” Provenance: David Daniels estate. (1) John Cranko was a South African-born ballet dancer and choreographer with the Royal Ballet and the Stuttgart Ballet. (2) Mario Amaya was an American art critic, museum director and magazine editor, and a one-time director of the New York Cultural Center.
