c1920s. Drypoint, signed in pencil below image, typed title in exhibition label verso, 22.4 x 37.8cm. Slight foxing, old mount burn. Framed. Exhibition label includes “Royal Exchange Art Gallery, London.” Described as “the most distinguished marine artist of his day”, William Lionel Wyllie was a prolific English painter of maritime themes in both oils and watercolours. His work is held in major British galleries and museums, including the Tate, the Imperial War Museum, the National Maritime Museum, and the National Museum of the Royal Navy. Ref: Wiki.
