Fairyland [Australian Board Game]

c1916. Colour lithograph board game with cloth spine, accompanied with original small dice box, “The National” company trademark shield and game name appear on board and box, 36.7 x 37cm (board), 17 x 11cm (rules), 7.5 x 8.8 x 4.2cm (box). In very good condition except for minor wear to edges of cover and box, which has splitting to two joints.

The box includes assorted wooden dice with cardboard throwing cup, four coloured wooden counters, game rules and a rare list of 31 National games. Text on game includes “Copyright No. 5045.”

The National trademark, which was in the shape of a shield, was registered on 1 September 1913. The company was located in Hawthorn, Melbourne.
