1930–1942. Hardcover autograph book, cloth-bound, autograph collector’s details in ink on inside front cover, 42 autographs in ink in various hands, 10 x 16.2 x 1cm. Chips, tears and paper remnants to endpapers, slight foxing, binding slightly loose, minor wear to cover. Annotation reads “Clarice Hollowood, Molton [105 Emu Street], Longreach. [Qld].” The book contains inscriptions and autographs by record-breaking aviators, Qantas pilots, a Governor of Queensland, and members of the armed forces, from Australia, the UK and USA. Australian and international notables include: Hudson Fysh (Aust., 1895–1974) one of the founders of Qantas, Cecil Arthur Butler (Aust., 1902–1980) who completed a record flight from England to Australia in 1931; Russell B. Tapp (1898–1984), a Qantas pilot, who was the first aviator in Australia to transport mail on the Imperial Service to Darwin; Charles W.A. Scott (Brit., 1903–1946) who made a record time from England to Australia in 1931 and was also winner of the MacRobertson Air Race (London to Melbourne) in 1934; five crew members of the aircraft Astrea, which made the inaugural flight from the UK to Australia in 1933, opening up commercial air travel between the two countries; and Governor of Queensland John Goodwin (Brit., 1871-1960) who was in office from 13 July 1927 to 7 April 1932, and his wife Lilian.
