Composition Projet De Vitrail [Stained Glass Project]
1938. Ink drawing, signed and dated in pencil below image, 45 x 27cm. Framed. Illustrated in Varichon #1598, p520. Albert Gleizes was an “important French artist, theoretician, philosopher, a self-proclaimed founder of Cubism and an influence on the School of Paris.” He also influenced several international artists who came to Paris to focus on modern art developments, including Australian artist Dorrit Black (1891–1951) who studied with Andre Lhote (1885–1962) and briefly worked with Lhote’s “compatriot and rival” Albert Gleizes in 1929.
