In 1938, he was banned from the Reich Chamber of Fine Arts by the German authorities for his criticism of the regime through his art, and later worked again as a commercial artist in the 1950s, making posters for exhibitions and films. From 1957 he taught art and advertising at the Theresian Academy in Vienna. In 1972, he was awarded the Golden Decoration of Honor for services to the Republic of Austria. Works by Hanna are in the Austrian National Library, the Vienna Library, and the cultural department of the City of Vienna. Ref: Smetana, Allgemeines Künstlerlexikon, Maximilian v. Koskull website.
