Illustrated in Newton, Max Dupain, p63, listed as Form at Bondi; and White, Dupain’s Beaches, p41. “Together with Sunbaker 1937, also in the collection, Form at Bondi represents the shifts in Dupain’s practice from private snapshot to public domain, from modernist experimentation to a determined recording of Australian life. It clearly reveals Dupain’s interest in the individual body as a metaphor for social wellbeing and an exemplar of pure form.” Ref: Art Gallery of NSW. One of Dupain’s more desirable beach images, Bondi rarely appears in the marketplace, as very few were printed by Dupain during his lifetime. Auction results, over the last 25 years, record only eight sales of Bondi compared to over 50 sales of Sunbaker.
