About Us

The Josef Lebovic Gallery in Kensington, Sydney, specialises in Australian and international vintage works on paper and photographs dating from the 15th to 20th century.

With a new exhibition about every eight weeks, the Josef Lebovic Gallery is committed to maintaining the highest professional standards.

Our exhibitions focus on both individual photographers and printmakers and areas of specialist interest including Australian theatrical posters, images of childhood, sport, the nude in photography, Australian architecture, travel posters, panoramas of Australia, beach scenes, and black and white art in Australia.

Each exhibition is accompanied by an illustrated catalogue. Highly sought after for the information they contain, catalogues such as the Masterpieces of Australian Printmaking (1987) and Masterpieces of Australian Photography (1989) have become source works in their own right.

We deal in prints and photographs, as well as classic works by Australian artists like Blackman, Olsen, Boyd, Lindsay, Long, Conder, Streeton, Rees, and Friend. You may find an original work in a print available for hundreds of dollars instead of tens of thousands.

An art dealer for over 40 years, Josef Lebovic is one of Australia's most well known and respected figures in the field of original prints and photography. Josef's specialist knowledge, energy and enthusiasm is contagious. His catalogues, gallery guides/website and other publications and new projects keep him an active figure in the Australian art scene. He is a member of the Australian Antique Dealers Association, the New South Wales Antique Dealers Association, the Association of International Photography Art Dealers (AIPAD) and the International Fine Print Dealers Association (IFPDA).
