c1890s. Group of eight sketches in watercolour, ink and wash or pencil, some with captions in image or annotations in margins, sizes from 14.1 x 6.6cm to 31.8 x 24.4cm. Most with slight soiling, foxing and creases, some with tears and missing portions. Includes two designs for the 1898 New Year edition of the weekly Tatler. Brother of renowned equine artist Frederick Woodhouse, Herbert was also an artist noted for his painting, illustration and sculpture. He contributed to a great number of publications and exhibited in most states in Australia.
