Botham (The Musical) , which toured Australia in 1981, starred Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie and Emma Thompson. Ironically the show had nothing to do with English cricketer Ian Botham, “but they wanted a champion on whom to hang their dignity, and he was the only one England could throw-up.” Ref: The Age, 6.11.1981; AusStage.
