Image shows American author Ernest Hemingway (1899–1961) with a 14-foot black marlin weighing over 1000 pounds, which he caught during a month-long fishing trip in Peru, May 23, 1956. Hemingway was in Peru for the filming of the motion picture adaptation of The Old Man and the Sea, his 1952 novella of an aging Cuban fisherman who struggles with a giant marlin far out in the Gulf Stream off the coast of Cuba.
