Railway Bridge On The St Kilda Road [South Melbourne]

The St Kilda and Brighton Railway Company in 1859 constructed a loop line from St Kilda to Windsor. This line passed through Albert Park and crossed St Kilda Road not far from Union Street west by an overhead bridge, as depicted in this photograph. An engraving of this bridge, included in Victoria Illustrated, was published by Sands, Kenny & Co. in 1862. Ref: SLV; Daley, The History of South Melbourne, 1940, p.69.
