Text includes “from authentic sources and the personal reminiscences of an old colonist, with an appendix of choice anecdotes and letters from eminent personages…by Madame Charles Cook…Sydney: General Publishing Office, 160 Pitt Street…Hampson and Gibson, Printers, Queen’s Place, Sydney.”

This group of booklets, which consists of Nos.1 to 12 of Vol. 1 (No. 13 missing), was issued weekly. The booklets contain many references and illustrations which depict the fraught race relations in Australia’s early colonial period. Ref: Newcastle Morning Herald, 15.5.1878.
