Luna Luna: A Poetic Extravaganza!
1986. Colour process lithograph with pop-up, artist’s name and date in image on cover, text in German inside card and verso, 30.5 x 30.5cm (folded). Minor dents, crinkles and soiling. Pop-up features a 3D carousel with Keith Haring’s iconic figures. Text includes “Karussel von Keith Haring. Luna Luna. Neue Revue. Copyright Luna Luna 1986 Freizeitanlagen GmbH.” From an edition of 2000, the pop-up was published by Van der Meer Paper Design Limited, England, and printed and assembled by hand by Carvajal S.A., Cali, Columbia, South America. Luna Luna was an open-air museum and amusement park in Hamburg, Germany from 4 June to 31 August 1987. Curated by Austrian artist André Heller (b.1947), it was an attempt to "create a travelling terrain of modern art, [based on the] centuries-old principle of the fairground." Heller commissioned various artists to design attractions for this event. The participating artists included Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Roy Lichtenstein, Salvador Dali, David Hockney, Kenny Scharf, Roland Topor, Jean Tinguely, and Sonja Delaunay.
